Hello to everyone! If someone who has taken this test could offer some advice. I have been studying from the study guide, does anyone know how much of the test is verbatim from the book? Are there drug cal questions on the test as well? I am reaaly struggling with the verbal ability portion. Thanks for any info.you can share.

I just took the psb revised test about 10 days ago. It was nothing like the book unfortunately. I cant think of any of the questions that matched exactly like the book. Some were the same but worded somewhat different.
I had the 3rd edition lpn entrance exam book from nln for reference.
The 1st section was a mix of math, what is next in the series pictures and about 5 words and you pick the word that doesnt belong to the bunch. A lot of the words were pretty obscure and i didnt know what they meant.
I just looked at the words i knew and tried to find a theme to the bunch. it seemed to go ok.
There were no questions asking what the different words in the sentence meant nor was there any reading comprehensions.
The book will help with the math in telling you how do do it. I thought the math was the easiest part. The book i had did not cover the other 2 things.
the next section was spelling with 50 rows of 4 or 5 words that you picked the right spelled one. Next section was science. I think it had 80 or 90 questions. From what i could remember there were maybe 10 or 15 that came from the book. i definately remember rickets and scurvy questions. next section was a weird one that asks things like 'i get mad when someone tells me what to do" agree or disagree. final section was asking what you would do in lpn situations like 'patient is getting fresh with you what would you do' and had 4 or 5 answers.
Hope this helps. if not ask and i will try and answer better.

CocoaBella and others: Can you list the websites that you went to for further practice and studying for Science and Math practice. If you can also state how you planned your studying time along with whatever studying tips you can give. Lastly, what LPN program did you get accepted to and or applied to? Any feedback you can give would be greatly appreciated.

hello,
i just went to general science quiz websites that focused on the way the cell functions, basic chemistry, biology...you know..the likes--stuff to refresh me.
i would say to study in 30 minute intervals and take breaks. i didn't even study everyday up until my exam and i still did pretty well (see other threads). it's proven that you retain and learn more when you do it in short spurts. i have noticed that when i cram 3 hours, my brain seems to burn out/overload and i just forget everything i crammed. when i do it in 30 minute intervals it seems to stick fairly well.
it's also a lot less stressful. it took me ages to figure out this studying technique!!! good luck. if you would like to ask any more questions you can send me a private message.

I just took my LPN pre-entrance exam. I am so nervous about the results! The Science sections was UNBELIEVABLE!!! If I knew half the things they were asking, I wouldn't be going to nursing school! I would be going to get my MD!!! I was an A-B student in High School. I practiced for days on end in the book they provided. I can retake the test in 60 days if I don't pass, but that may affect myself getting into the classes that start in April!! AHHHHHHH! The reading section I feel confident about and the math section I feel I did fairly good at. The science section just WRECKED MY MIND!! Need some encouragement PLEASE as I am now a slave to the mailbox:eek:
Relax! Where are you planning on attending? I took it twice. Got a 93 the first and 96. Remember its based on how you do compared to everyone else you took it with. Good Luck!
