NJCU ABSN 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Since I did not see any threads for NJCU ABSN 2021, thought I start it off. Anyone started/submitted their application yet?

Hey everyone! Glad I found this thread! I don't want to make this post too long, but I have a concern about the NJCU tuition and loans.

To start off, I have a bachelor's and master's degree in marine bio., but I've made the decision to switch my career (I know, crazy LOL). I plan to apply to the accelerated program next year as I just started taking my prereqs this year.

I did a lot of searching for how much NJCU tuition will be as well as for Rutgers, Ramapo, etc. and wow it is a lot! I plan to take another loan for nursing school, but my question is, if FASFA only provides 12,500$ for the year and total cumulative loan at NJCU is about 57,500$, then how does one student pay for each semester? I am boggled by this amount and kinda stressed at how I am going to pay if FASFA loan can't cover each semester. I'm already paying out of pocket for my prereqs, so I kinda sealed the deal to go to nursing school LOL..

I would love to know how it is working out for you and if you have any advice, please let me know! I hope your 2021 semester goes great!! Thanks!

Hey!! I have a bachelors and masters in another field and am changing careers too haha

Can I ask where you got these numbers? On the site it says it’s roughly $9k a semester ($27k total for 3 semesters). Are there that many fees or am I missing something else ?

I didn't even think to look up what the program looks like. all I know is that you can pick what you do first. I'd honestly rather not know my score til the end because if I do bad on a section I know it'll just discourage me ?. I think the anxiety of not knowing what its going to be like is worse than anything else ugghhhh

Hey! I took the HESI at that testing center last week. They do show you the grade after each section and you get to pick what order you go in.

Honestly, it was much easier than I expected. I wouldn’t worry too much, I’m sure you’ll do great!

What a coincidence! Thank you for the motivation. I really just need a breather I think LOL. Do they allow you to get up during the exam to stretch your legs? Also, is there anything you recommend bringing other than like water and a little snack? Sorry for all the questions everyone!! I know I'm blowing up this page ?

So you can’t drink your water with you, you have to leave it in the locker. You can get up to go to the bathroom or get a drink but your time isn’t paused (if I’m remembering right). I ended up taking less than 2 hours for the test so I didn’t leave my seat. But they are pretty thorough when you go in. Had to roll up my sleeves, flip my pockets, take my earrings off and even get my glasses inspected so I’m assuming they may do all that again before you sit back down which might be a little time consuming

No way! I am glad I am not the only one, because I feel so heartbroken over not using my master's degree & switching careers. Glad we can relate! Anyways, so looking back at my comment, I was really concerned about how I was going to pull $ for nursing school. But the #'s I got are from FASFA (so correct me if I'm wrong); for instance the 57,500$ is the total max amount you can take out from FASFA loans, which I thought back then was the tuition (silly me). The 12,500$ is the max amount FASFA gives you per year.

I emailed someone from NJCU about tuition & they sent me this link:

"TUITION

Program tuition for in state and out-of-state residents is accessible via the link provided below.  The "Accelerated Nursing" tables reflect the rates per semester (3 semesters total)."

They also sent me this BSN info packet, which I attached if you haven't already seen. Just in case.. ?

LOL long story short, you're right about ~9k a semester w/o including books, scrubs, school supplies needed, etc (I think). I am STILL going to be paying out of pocket since the 12,500$ won't be enough to cover 2 semesters for one year. Sorry for the long response, hope this cleared up my previous comment.

Hi LOL my cousin graduated in 2019 and she paid around 33000 she said so I don’t think it’ll be that expensive.

I take my TEAS tomorrow and this is my second attempt . Came close on my first attempt . Take it you never know

I just feel so strongly that I may not do well I mean I do the practice tests and that alone is saying look it’s been a while since you’ve done this math thing LOL. The other sections I did pretty well on and some questions I over analyzed.

So I clock out of my full time at 4 and I head to the store and shop about 3/4 orders at the same time for a drop off between 6-7. I try to stick to small orders so I can pick up more and drop off in the same area. I do this about 4-9pm then the weekend I do 8-8 Sunday about 8-6. With tips I come in about 1k. If I was doing it full time I’d make more LOL

Thank you so much for the info. I actually signed up and I'm waiting for my card and supplies to come. I don't think I'll be able to do as many hours as you, but at least I'll be making something.

Thank you! I got scared for a minute. I’ll definitely need to pay out of pocket as well. I hope we can figure something out ?
