NJCU ABSN 2021

Published

Since I did not see any threads for NJCU ABSN 2021, thought I start it off. Anyone started/submitted their application yet?

Ahh OK thanks! One of my transcripts says “hasn’t arrived” even though the application says received and I emailed NJCU about it. All they said was that they would contact me if there were any issues. So I’m nervous about it being verified even though the school charged my account for the transcript fee.

Does anyone know if you need an account for NJCU’s website to check the application status or is it strictly through nursingcas? My application status on nursingcas says received and I’m wondering if anyone’s application is under review yet.

No need to have an account , All the correspondences are through NursingCas. You also may receive a confirmation via your email address. I received a confirmation when my application was received and verified through nursingcas.  You can also reach out to nursingcas to confirm. They answer quick.

It’s just through NursingCas. I emailed them asking when decisions would be out and they said even the decision comes in through a NursingCAS email, not an NJCU specific email address.

Did they say when decisions would be out?

Probably end of March or early April

When I emailed them they only gave me a vague timeline of 4-6 weeks after the application deadline of feb 28th

Congrats!! I was also accepted! I didn’t realize Saint Peters was right up the street from NJCU. My fingers are still crossed for NJCU tho!

Congrats!

Do you think NJCU is a better program? I applied to both programs got accepted to Saint Peter's Accelerated Nursing program. (super excited plus Saint Peters is significantly cheaper) but also still waiting on a respond to NJCU. Also did you attend the information session they had last week?

I personally have not heard the greatest things about Saint Peters nursing programs. I’m assuming the ABSN will be similar, but in a more fast paced setting, which is why I’m leaning towards NJCU. Also, from what I’ve seen it’s the cheapest. What makes you say Saint Peters is cheaper? What I read if NJCU is roughly 30k for the program and they offer some form of financial aid. I think I read saint peters is 36k and they offer no financial aid. I haven’t attended an info session yet but I really should.

Their website says their program is 25,000 dollars. Im confused about the pricing of njcu as it will be going from 3 semesters to 4 semesters. And they said each semester is 12,000 ... I will call them tomorrow and ask what their tuttion is ...

I went to the SPU information session and there were two students there !! They didn't really say anything negative about the program just that its really hard! And they said all their students passed the NCLEX .. and ot had a 95 retention rate !

I emailed a woman from admissions asking about the length of the program, and she said it is currently on track to be 12 months (3 semesters). It was switched to 4 semesters due to covid, but theyre not having any issues at the moment so thankfully it'll be the normal 3 semesters! I just checked their 2020-2021 tution costs and it seems like tuition has gone down (most likely due to the insane decline in college attendance right now) to $ 8,998.50! Very happy about that. Thats including fees too! So the cost for 3 semesters will be 27,000.

I'm willing to pay the additional 2k because I have this gut feeling telling me I'll be happier there. The campus looks beautiful and from what I've heard, the professors are kind-hearted and understanding of how difficult the program is.
