Hello all, I took my NCLEX on feb 11, paid for the quick results and found out I passed! My question is how long did it take for you to receive your license? I haven even been looking at the BON website, and my license number hasn't even been posted

4-6 weeks as all candidates must be approved by the board committee once the NCLEX is passed and background check is cleared. Once posted online you are legally able to work as a nurse while waiting for your paper license. Once you hit 6 week mark you can try calling the NJ BoN. I did, and got lucky...the operator was able to tell me which day the committee was meeting and I was on the agenda (a few days later) and then called me later the day of the meeting to give me my license number. Your success may vary as others were not as lucky. (Mind you I am never lucky. It took 7 weeks for my license to be issued from passing NCLEX)
Thanks for your response! I'll call them again tomorrow, yesterday would have been exactly week 6! I just wish they would update the website with my number so I can at least apply for jobs

Stop calling them and got down there. When you call it goes to a call center (not the BON). They give you the same generic nonsense. If you go down there you will leave with your license number in hand.
I took my test on Feb 12. I went down there March 7th with a classmate and we both walked out with our numbers. Physical license came a few weeks later
Thnks for the advice! My license number was actually put in on march 25! Literally 6 weeks to the day I took my nclex! But ill definitely let my classmates know what to do!
Just know that you are legally now a nurse and can work as a nurse while waiting the next few weeks for your physical license. Since the license can be verified online, via fax, or via phone call per BoN regulations you can work as a nurse.
Some employers & HR staff erroneously believe they must see a hard copy of your license certificate when even the accrediting agencies accept this as license verification. I had one employer wanting me to work a CHHA (per BoN regulations a nurse can do the work of a CHHA but cannot work with the job title of CHHA unless certified as such) because I didn't have my physical license yet though my license appeared on Nursys & the BoN. I verified with the BoN and later found some questionable issues with the employer's practices and ran the other way.

Because I am currently working as a CNA at my job, I guess I have to let them no I can no longer be a CNA because your not allowed to have 2 licenses in NJ or work below your license... Is that right?
You are certified as a CNA (I never was a CHHA and thus could not work in a job title of CHHA, I could be hired as an LPN and do CHHA assignments) and therefore can continue to work as a CNA but you will be held to the standard of an LPN.
Your employer may not permit you to continue working as a CNA now that you have an LPN license (but you may now be out of a job if there are no LPN positions).
You can even keep your LPN license after becoming an RN if you so desire but you will be held to the standards of your highest license should there ever be an issue. CNA is not a license but a certificate issued by the department of health ( nothing to do with the BoN in NJ)
I've known PCAs in my hospital to have worked for a few months while they waited for RN positions. Everyone seems to say that you have around 6 months to still work. I wouldn't say anything until you find an RN job.
