NJ RN Renewal—error on application question

Hello all, I've been a nurse for 32 years and never had an issue with renewing my license. This year there was a question (number2)on the renewal I think I answered wrong. It stated do you waive the right to the 5th amendment for question 3. Question 3 was do you use illegal drugs which I answered no of course. Cause I don't use srugs. I mistakenly answered no to question 2- misunderstanding what it meant. I know ignorance is no excuse. I'm worried what will happen. I checked the license verification online and it has my licensed renewed but it was only a few days after I did the application. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this. Thank you in advance!

What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Nurses are discussing concerns about mistakenly answering a question on their license renewal application, specifically regarding waiving the right to the 5th amendment. Some suggest contacting the nursing board to explain the situation, while others reassure that if the license is renewed without issue, there should be no problem. Ultimately, one nurse shares that they received their renewed license without any problems.

If your licensed is listed as renewed, no issue then as computer software would have flagged application if answered incorrectly.   🙂   🙂   🙂

Hi! I was curious about the outcome of this. I ran into the same exact issue this year. Any advice?

Send email to NJ BON explaining situation, application # answered mistakenly and corrected answers.  In PA, I received a form I needed to complete when I forgot to list my DE license-expired in 1993 pledging correction under penalty of law.

If no response, contact your state legislator/ assemblyperson who are experts dealing with state agencies.

Let us know the outcome.

I don't see why there would technically be a problem with the way you answered. In #2 all you (mistakenly) did was decline to give up your right to NOT incriminate yourself by answering question #3. You retained the right to not answer, but then in #3 you voluntarily chose to answer and your answer is not self-incriminating.

The real problem is for people who answer yes/yes

I received my license without an issue. It's been a year. Thanks everyone for the responses.
