NJ NEW RN looking for JOB! Help

Published

Hello I'm a new RN with a associate looking for a job in any hospitals. Willing to relocate if have to. And possibly start my RN to BSN shortly if any hospital is willing to reimburse. Any help? Or advice?

Specializes in Critical Care, Capacity/Bed Management.

As a NJ RN, I can tell you the market is saturated with new graduates. Many times the only way to secure an RN position is to have worked previously a nurse extern or tech/aide. With that being said it is not impossible or unheard of for a new grad ADN to get a job offering. Some things that will make you more marketable is attaining BLS/ACLS certifications and as you mentioned pursuing your BSN.

If you find it difficult to attain a hospital based job, look in the outpatient sector such as home health, LTACH, etc. It may not be your number one choice but it's a foot in the door.

BLS/ACLS is basic cpr? Where do I get that? I been a LPN nurse for 4 years did homecare and now that I'm a RN wanted to span out into something more fast pace. Thanks for the advice though! :/ I applied at many hospitals near me seems like everyone wants to hire a nurse with experience, also is there any hopes of to handing in resume personally in person I mean? Is that even possible ? I thought maybe once a place sees how serious and determined I am may compel some employers of hiring me.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Most NJ hospitals have HR/recruiting off site. You will be directed back to apply online.

Look for non-hospital Select Specialty runs LTACH in parts of NJ. Sub acute. Acute rehab like Health South.

BLS = CPR for healthcare

ACLS & PALS = advanced cardiac life support & pediatric advanced life support. Advanced courses about $350 each.

Thank you for your help! I'll look in to it! Nice to see other fellow nurses helping each other! :up:
