It takes 2-4 years to become a nurse. The neonatal part happens after graduation, on the job. NICU jobs are notoriously hard to come by, esp. for new grads,

You must be willing to move anywhere that offers you a job as a new grad. I applied to 50 openings and had 2 interviews (and job offers).
Working in the NICU as a PCA/ unit secretary, a practicum placement in a NICU during nursing school, or a summer externship in a NICU will give you an advantage getting a NICU job as a new grad.
