NNP hours?

Specialties NICU

Published

Hello all. This is my first post here and I have a few questions on Neonatal NP's. I was curious as to the shifts/hours/call worked by NNP's on your units. This may be better posted on the Nurse Practicioner discussion board, but I thought I would try here first. Do most of the NNP's work weekends? Nights? Call? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

What do u do with a NNP degree besides working in NICU

Specializes in NICU/Neonatal transport.

Nothing really. It's a very specialized degree. It's not like there are office neonatologists.

Actually, with an NNP you could be a nurse educator. Many NICUs also have NNPs for nurse managers.

True enough, I was thinking more in a clinical sense, but definitely teaching is open.

You can always look into a combined Neonatal/Peds program if you are interested in other areas of peds besides NICU. That's the program I did and am very happy with it. Besides NICU I absolutely love heme/onc and later I might do the post-masters certificate program to be a np in the bone marrow transplant unit.

Our NNPs are salaried.

Are most nurse practitioners salaried?
