As you can see I haven't been on the bulletin board for a minute. I am on my fourth week of orientation and I am loving it in the NICU. I have sort of followed the orientation path backward in that I started out admitting and caring for a critcall ill 25 weeker. I had him for about 2 1/2 weeks, since he was born. So I am very attached. During his course with me, he was doing very well BUT he perforated Came back from surgery and had togo back for debridement. So far he is coming along. I established a good relationship with the parents (they ask for me now since I don't have him anymore - that is nice). Baby Boy S is just a little sweetie pie. I am already known for primping my babies, keeping them extra clean and a baby advocate :)
I have a wonderful preceptor who is a veteran of the NICU. She is just excellent and patient with me.
I just need to work on my time management more and hopefully I will get it straight by the end of the twelve weeks of orientation. I have my Neonatal Resuscitation Program coming up soon.
BTW I just found out after 3 long weeks I passed the NCLEX and am now an Registered Nurse . I am so happy, :biggringi it feels like a great weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.
Now all I need is a little :zzzzz
Thanks for asking how things were going. I really appreciate that.
Hurray for you, Nurse!!:balloons: :) :balloons: :)
And way to dive in head first!!! A 25 weeker with NEC ! Phew!
Time management does take a bit to get down. But once you figure out the routine it will come to you. Good Luck!!
