Becoming a Neonate nurse

Specialties NICU

Published

Hi,

I am a 33 y/o male LVN who is pursuing my RN. I am interested in neonate nursing. Yes I have 3 kids, no, no experience in peds or neonate. The draw seems to be the cutting edge tech, seems like they are able to keep real premature babies alive and discharge them. and the draw to being a neonate NP. Is this the totally wrong way to look at this? Could someone tell me about neonate nursing?

Thanks in advance,

Jimmie

Welcome! We get asked this a lot, so here are some threads that may help you. Please feel free to ask us specific questions. I worked in adult ICU because I was drawn to the technology, I went to NICU for personal reasons. But I do enjoy caring for the real sicky poos because I really like machines! HTH! Good luck!
