Anyone know of any NICU's hiring in Mass or RI? Women and Infants HR told me they are not hiring until June. I have been trying to get into this hospital for a year now and have had no luck. The HR department is awful to deal with. And the Boston hospital's seem to want NICU experience. I am about ready to give up on getting into any NICU for now. Any suggestions :thankya:

Did you try SOuth Shore Hospital in Weymouth? THe NICU there is excellent and they have a great new grad training program. Ask to visit and check it out.
How would I do that? I did visit the web page and do not see any positions posted for NICU. The hospital is only about 45 minutes from my house. Do you know anything about pay etc. If they hire without experience, I guess it would benefit me to look further into it. Thanks for the info.
I just spent a day observing in the NICU that was arranged through my clinical instructor. In your case, I would call the unit directly, ask for the names of the Nurse Manager and the Director of Education. Ask to arrange a day shadowing. You can get all the necessary info from them then. They do hire new grads, and the orientation is an intense 16 week classroom/practicum program. I do not know when the next cohort is scheduled to go through. The director of education designed the program which may now become a model for the whole hospital. I think her name is Judy. They are a great group over there. I can't say enough good things about them -- from the Unit Coordinator to the Neonatologists. It is a strong team and they all respect eachother. Everyone seemed quite happy with their jobs. Good luck!
