Anyone work there?? I have a possible job opportunity but I want to hear what people think of it first! I have been a NICU nurse for 2 years. I have really good experience behind me. I love to work with micropreemies. Any info is helpful!! Thanks!!

I have never worked there but they have an awesome reputation; and you would get the opportunity to care for children from all over. when my nephew had heart surgery and my dd had ortho surgeries we saw just how many people from all over the world went there for care; that in itself speaks volumes.

i have had friends who worked in other depts and loved it.

downside..cost of living in Boston and Mass in general is outrageous compared to many parts of the country. Good Luck!!

I know several nurses who work the NICU there and they have mixed feelings on it. It is amazing experience. You will work with the sickest babies in the United States, get a chance to experience ECMO, iNO and surgical babies. The pay is good, the benefits are good. The downfall is everything else. It's an extremely difficult place to work and the unit gets a lot of chronics so it's not all micropreemie management. They have their own transport team so you won't get to travel to other hospitals, and it's a referral hospital so there's no delivery team. It's a major teaching hospital so you will have to fight with interns and residents who think they know everything to get the right care and advocate for your babies. You will also have to deal with the strong personalities of Bostononians combined with the strong personalities of a NICU setting. A lot of the nurses will eat you alive...but if you can tough it out and you have thick skin it can be an incredible experience.
