Nice NICU to work?

I am a RN in a NICU in central Florida. We are talking about moving out of Florida but not sure where to. We have thought about Tennessee area but pretty open. If anyone has any suggestions about different states and pay compared to living expenses and any nice hospitals with level 3 NICU, I would love to hear about what else is out there!!

I have been a NICU nurse 26 years and have worked in 11 different units. This past year I've been traveling, so I've worked in three Level 3 units and all have pluses and minuses. My favorite unit for many reasons was Sacred Heart in Spokane, WA. Nurses had input into design that was sweet, homey; the staff worked well together and with most of the neos, they staffed by acuity. Spokane is a great city, very outdoorsy. Think about what aspects of your job your job you like now. Are you looking for more of that, or a new challenge, or a different geographic locale? I made lists of different designed units I wanted to see, units known for great developmental care, units that were ranked as the top 10-15 by US News and Business Mag and Child Life Mag. As a traveler, that's how I choose where I'll work and this year has been a great experience!! Best of luck.

I have been working at Children's Mercy in Kansas City since I graduated and love it! It is a 60 bed brand new level 3 unit with the most critical babies in the city. The staff, including management , is really great to work with too. I know the mid-west doesn't seem like the most exciting place to live but KC is a really cool city. We are currently using travelers since we are so busy all the time.

I suggest looking into SLH-plaza NICU as well. They have a beautiful NICU and wonderful staff.

Community Hospital in Fresno, CA has an AWESOME dept with staff that works VERY well together!! We are hiring too!
