NHS lying about Staff Shortages?

Published

why is the spokeswoman for the Dept of Health saying that there are lots of jobs? What are the part-time contracts that are mentioned in the first article?

How are overseas nurses being treated - it says they don't get promoted.

Why are 3000 doctors not able to find employment with the NHS? Although if they do have the option to go private, as mentioned in the article, wouldn't that be a reasonable option?

there are no flaming jobs in my hospital, none of the students will have jobs when they qualify in december and all the wards are dangerously short staffed

its an accident waiting to happen....

does the RCN have anything to say about the staffing situation - since it sounds dangerously short staffed?

does the RCN have any voice to speak to the public, administrators, legislators?

is the job situation like that all over UK?

Foreign nurses do get promoted, I was the only UK born nurse to get promoted out of 6 who got senior staff nurse in my department.

As for SHOs, as I understand it, there are less posts than candidates for the good hospitals and noone want's to work at a rubbish one, they'd rather locum! A few locums have now been made what is essentially (though a stupid title) senior senior house officers, months after not finding a post.

We should not be pinching foreign nurses in the 1st place

People in Africa are dying because there best nurses come here just so we can reduce waiting times!

What is more important:

shorter waiting times in UK

or people dying from lack of nurses in Africa?

well how long do you think it will take for it to be like that here, ive lost count of the amount of nurses that i know of who are going abroad, for better pay, conditions and lifestyle, surely eventually this will have the same effect on nursing in the uk?

after all if you are short of staff, tired and stressed something will get missed eventually and patients may well end up paying the ultimate price

hi english nurse
