NG tube and positioning patients with one insity

I am a Surg Tech and here is my question in relation to this topic. But first, my mom had developed a gastropaeresis after being ill. She had an NG tube placed and they constantly emptied her stomach. They did test it and it came back that she had bile and a bleed, "coffee grounds". So I think that the doc should have tested it..yes sir! Now to my question/dilemma: They had turned off the suction to my moms stomach for about 24 + hours. The next morning she was not feeling well again and they did not try emptying her stomach (mind you they had been doing it for 12 days). Instead they decided to give her a transfusion because her blood counts were low. If they were low I would think that they would check/empty her stomach again to see if the bleed had started again, right? THEN the worst happened. They came in to change her padding/bedding and laid her flat down then rolled her to the side and she aspirated volumes of bile and grounds. It came flooding out her nose and mouth. She coded. They got her back but she eventually got pneumonia and died. As a medical person myself I am horrified that they laid back a patient with an NG tube in place before checking placement and checking stomach volumes. Isn't this normal NG protocol to do this?
