I am a nursing student that will be graduating in December. I applied for an extern position in the unit I would LOVE to work at when I graduate. I filled out an online application and then e-mailed the nurse manager letting her know I was interested & that my application had been submitted. She e-mailed back that it would take her a few weeks and then she would schedule interviews. Well, it has now been two weeks and I still have not heard anything. Now, she did say a few weeks & I would keep waiting but I am extremely interested in this job and don't want to let it slip away. So, what is the best move to make next? Should I continue to wait, give her a call, mail (or hand deliver) my resume & reccomendation letters, or another e-mail? I don't want to cross that line of being annoying but I want her to know how interested I am. Thanks for any insight on the best way to handle this.

There is a fine line between showing interest and being a PITA. I suggest mailing her the resume and letters, with a cover letter saying how you hope you will have the opportunity to learn with her and you hope she will take a moment to study your application and resume.

I suggest going in and giving her your resume face-to-face. It shows interest and makes a lasting impression. She is sure to remember you before she will a e-mailed application.
