Hi There,
first of all, thank you for this forum!:redpinkhe
This forum helped me a lot on my way to become a RN and I'm really thankful for all advises I found here!
Now I'm at a certain point where I REALLY needs your help:
I'm coming from Cologne, Germany and used to be a nurse here. 2 years ago I went for the first time to San Francisco and felt in love with this town. I made up my mind and decided to find a way to live there. Now I finished almost everything:
I applied at the BON California, they found me eligible and in the beginning of January this year I made the NCLEX.
On Wednesday I received a letter from the DCA and BON saying that I passed the NCLEX and that I have to provide my social security nr. within the next 3 years.
I can't believe that I really passed it and I'm still in a kind of shock...
Anyway, I found nowhere any information what I would have to do next regarding getting my license and being allowed to work as a RN in San Francisco and hope you can help me:
I friend of mine told me that I have to make an English-exam called IELTS. I already made the TOEFL in December 2006, do I really need this IELTS?
This friend also mentioned that I would need something called "visa screen certification"(?) and that I would have to apply at CGFNS for it. (But I think I read somewhere that this isn't necessary for the BON in California???)
What else would I have to do, what other requirements do I have to fulfill until I can go to San Francisco for seeking a job?
I really hope that anyone of you could help me find some answers; otherwise I'm afraid of getting crazy
Thank you in advance!

Hi and welcome to the site
You are currently affected by retrogression and current processing times are 2002. Now that you have met licensure requirements and passed NCLEX you need to apply for a visa screen certificate at http://www.cgfns.org and arrange with Ca to forward your results usually fee $60 to do this. You also need to find an employer willing to petition you and they will start the process by filing I140 (once you have approval of I140 you will join the retrogression queue) and average time for approval is 6 months upwards depending on service centre and you have no control over which one. Also there are a few issues with Ca and SSN so suggest a good read on here.
Either IELTS of TOEFL will do for VSC
