what is the next step? Bachelors in Kinesiology

Published

Ok so i'm graduating soon with a bachelors degree in kinesiology and health promotion but now i am thinking about getting into a nursing program. is there a program that cater specifically to people in this situation or would i just be starting from scratch? i have finished all my general education classes and taken anatomy and physiology and micro and everything for my major. just wondering what the next step would be to become a nurse. Still not certain what i want to do as a nurse so any feedback will be appreciated.

thanks

Have you looked into an Accelerated BSN program? Since you all ready have a Bachelor's degree you would not have to repeat those classes. Instead, you would just need the core nursing classes. ABSN programs often allow you to graduate in under two years with a bachelor's in nursing. Might be something to think about.

I agree with the second degree accelerated BSN suggestion. My first degree was in economics and currently, I'm in an accelerated program (May '08 - August '09). So far so good. There are prereq's that you'll need to take care of prior to starting the program, but it sounds like you already have some if not all done. Although similar the prereq's may differ among programs so just go to your school of interest nursing website. Good luck!

thanks, i really have not looked into much. just decided that this was what i wanted to do. anyone have an approx. cost of these accelerated programs or does it vary widely depending on where i go? I live in so cal. after completion of this program am i then a registered nurse or are there more steps after that? I'm very new to this scene so any info will be helpful! thanks!!
