I've just qualified as a nurse in Scotland and me and my partner are hoping to go to Sydney on a years working visa ASAP. I know that previously you had to have at least 2 years experiance before being accepted but have recently heard varying stories that experiance is no longer the case. I literally want to get over there as soon as possible and was wondering if anyone could give me information on the quickest, easiest way to do so. Thanks

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

APHRA website should tell you if experience is required or not

That was the case past 2 years, I have heard AHPRA is now assessing each overseas application by a committee and have refused applications if they have not had at least one year experience. Only AHPRA can answer your questions and there is no quick and easy way around their assessment time, there must be hundreds of applications daily to their offices in every state from overseas applicants.BTW Australian new grads are finding it difficult to find work.
