Newly grad from Scandinavia moving to the US

Hi all,

I was hoping to get some help and advice. I am graduating in one year, I will finish my BSN. My fiancé and I are looking to relocate to the US shortly thereafter. I am Scandinavian and he is an American citizen. What are my options here; do I NEED to stay and work to gain experience after graduating before starting the application process for jobs in the US? Will I be able to apply for the NCLEX without any experience? Will things be easier if we get married before we move?

Any insight or information is appreciated! Thank you!

Actually being married will be easier for moving but will not make any difference to obtaining your license. You do not usually need experience before starting the process but you can’t start until you have graduated and can start that process straight after you graduate

New grads without nursing experience typically have a hard time getting their first job in the US.  While you may not have to get experience at home first, it might be beneficial in the employment process.  While your overseas experience may be treated differently, no one can refute the fact that you will possess experience.  Good luck.
