Newer Nurse Here, Care to share some info?

Published

Hey all :) I'm a newer nurse, I have been trying to review many things on my time off, but I honestly don't know what I don't know... lol. I currently have an NCLEX book open to review things. But I was wondering, would you be willing to list some random facts/pertinent things that come to mind regarding disease process, medications, treatments? I love to learn and would really enjoy seeing what you all come up with. Thank you :)

Your question is too broad. there are may expensive text books out there to prove knowledge is never ending. However what you need is to find several seasoned nurse willing to share with you, go to lunch with them, offer to help them if they need an extra hand with their pt if your not busy. Ask question while you are in there if appropriate. Also go to conferences and network other nurses.

Subscribe to a nursing magazine. The magazines offer all sorts of useful products. When I was a new nurse Springhouse publishers offered a great series of skill building manuals that had quick info look up that were great with pictures and graphics. Small enough to carry too! However once you start to feel comfortable with your knowledge base it can be dangerous because The more you learn you learn you need to to learn more. Also you cant remember everything thats why pocket cheat sheets are also available. Some nurses hate to go to product inservice by Corporations bringing new products to the hospital but most times they have small carry-able cheat sheets that fit nicely in your pocket. Lastly enjoy the journey!!
