:o hello everyone-so i began my new job as a tech about 3 months ago, and i love it, but some of the people just really rub me the wrong way!

so i am accepted to school, start an adn program in january, the 14th to be exact! when i started my job, alot of the girls (techs) didnt know what they were guna go to school for, none of them even mentioned nursing, and now since they all found out about me, they are all "enrolled now too". which i dont quite understand due to how long the waits are now.......whatever...what upset me though is that one particuluar girl(tech) who has been there for a year or so who calls in on a weekly basis, who had her hours cut from 36 to 24 per week, had the nerve to tell me that herself and another tech(her friend) get "first choice" of the schedule since they have seniority! i almost died! i got the schedule i asked for, maybe cause i discussed it with the charge nurse who does scheduling as soon as i found out my school schedule!

i just found her repsonse to be to be extremly rude and quite frankly i could care less if i ever saw her again!

sorry so long, just had to get that off my chest!

Hi and congratulations on getting into school!

This may be hard for you but please try and ignore them. You will have so much on your plate with school and work that spending one second ruminating over their childish behavior is a total waste. Just focus. :)

well, i'm glad you got that off your chest, but you really need to let it all go as well. focusing on a competition with other people is going to use up your energy and wear you out. you need your energy to get you through your nursing studies and to just get to your job and get the job done. focus on yourself and forget about what other people are doing and if they got a better deal than you. 20 years from now all this nonsense of what the other people got, had, or were, is going to only be a memory and not even worth remembering. what is important is getting to the final line.

as for the person who calls in once a week, i wouldn't worry about that. when you are in nursing school, you need to consider it as on-the-job training. your nursing instructors are constantly evaluating you. there will be strict rules about attendance. there is no missing clinicals once a week or you get kicked out of the program. attendance gets noted on your evaluations. when it comes time 2 years later (or when ever you have finished your nursing course) to get your first job, guess who you must rely on for your job recommendations? they must come from one or two instructors. keep that in mind. people with bad work ethics, negative attitudes and the tendency to cut corners don't get real excellent recommendations from their instructors for their first jobs. i know because i was a nurse manager and worked with a nurse recruiter who hired new grads all the time. the recruiter was a smart cookie and it's amazing how instructors don't put important information into recommendations that recruiters are looking for of the less than acceptable job candidates. now, they're not going to tell you this, but i just did. this is also how some unscrupulous instructors can pay back students who are nuisances to them.

so, all this worrying you are doing is for naught. karma is always out there working its magic, you can trust that. all you need to do is just keep putting one foot in front of the other and do your part in getting educated as a nurse and let everyone else worry about getting their own education. as long as you got the work hours you needed the world is a good place to be in today and what anyone else got doesn't matter.

Exactly! You will encounter rude people everywhere...just worry about yourself, don't let others add to your stress.:Snowman1:
