hey guys,
i'd really appreciate any help i can get. i've started working on the first of next semester's study guides, and i'm stuck on the this question:
[define gravida and para] "why is it important for the nurse to know this about each woman in labor?"
i've combed through four textbooks and all i can come up with is definitions. anyone care to explain?
thanks :typing

If it is a study guide, then it should have the answers in the back.

As a pre-nursing student, L&D hopeful, and a mother of two, I will take a stab at this one. If a woman has had more than one child she is likely to labor and deliver much more rapidly. That way you have a better idea of what "timeline" to expect.
There may be other reasons, but I would imagine that this may be one.

hah, thats a good one.

please, post your own thoughts on the questions. even if you fumble and stumble around, it helps members to understand your train of thought and it relieves our consciences that we are not robbing a student of the opportunity to make the knowledge her own.
tell us what you are thinking. :)
