New York Presbyterian New Grad Event

I go to JHU SON and am graduating this July. I am missing clinical this tuesday to go to the New Grad Career Event at New York Presbyterian. I am trying to find a job (preferably peds) in NYC or NJ to be with my boyfriend (Long distance for 3 years!)

Have any of you been to this event before or heard anything about it? I'm going into it prepared of course but also with sort of low hopes that anything will come of it. I am expecting to be one of hundreds of resume-ready high-heeled BSN candidates. Anything to stand out, insider tips, etc? Anyone know how this process goes- the HR woman I spoke with was being kind of unclear but she made it sound like they open up New Grad positions after this first event and if you attended, you get first dibs. Any other info? Thanks!!!

That's not a good reason to miss clinical IMHO.

The woman in charge of Career Services at my school told me it was fine. Also, HR told me that there are rarely any New Grad jobs left to open up if you don't attend this event. I carefully weighed the pros and cons and decided missing 8 hours of public health clinical is worth the interview practice at the very least or job at the very most.
