I would advise calling - it's usually the Nursing Administration/Recruitment department. Most programs have a deadline of March, however. I can't remember if I called Methodist or not, but I applied for Woodhull and just got in. It's an 8 week preceptorship - you only work 1-3 days per week, but they pay $11 per hour (not much). I know Bellevue's deadline was last week - you might be out of luck with regards to this summer, but you can always see if you can volunteer and make some connections that way. good luck!
Thank You for your responses. Congratulations !
I was interested more in the format and activities because I was awaiting reponse at the time I posted. I also was wondering if anyone who had ALREADY completed had insight.
I will post what I have gathered so far for those who plan to apply to it in the future.
- It is a 8 week preceptorship of 2 days a week.
- One day includes a lunch and learn seminar where an expert speaks on subject related to nursing care.
- Pays 14.50/hr , you are considered a per diem employee and are allowed to work past the 8 week stint according to your availability.
- it seems many externs are hired as staff nurses given they have good evaluations and pass their NCLEX
hope that helps others.

Hi everyone
Does anyone know anything about this program
I am asking those who are currently in the program and those who have completed the program in previous years ....
I heard it exists but the is no information on the New York Methodist Website.
Is it paid ? Is is a good experience? Is it hands on? What is the time commitment ?
Thank you for your response
