Hello!
I am close to finishing my first year of nursing and am a licensed nurse in NJ. I wanted to start looking or a new job and because I am so close to NYC I wanted to apply for my New York Nursing License. I saw on the website that there are courses that are required but I may be exempt from them because I completed my degree and got my license all after 2014 (Class of 2019). Just wanted someone to help me verify whether this is true or not for anyone that has done the same or has recently gotten their license in New York. Please let me know and stay safe!
@NRSKarenRN thank you for your quick response!! So I will be graduating from a school in Kentucky. Are you saying once I graduate here I can apply to take the NCLEX in NY state? Im confused how that works. Sorry for the confusion.
You can take the NCLEX in KY --just have NCLEX send results to NY BON.
Your school will need to send your transcripts to NY. NY requires CE course as part of licensure too. Read links above for full info
Allnurses NY state forum has lots of info too https://allnurses.com/new-york-nursing-c109/

You do not need to obtain compact state license. NCLEX is national exam, can be taken anywhere in US with results sent to NY state, apply directly for their initial license.
Review the requirements for licensure: http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/nurse/nursing.htm

Best wishes in completing your nursing program.
