New York jobs, clinics, etc

Published

hello, I am finishing up my BSN at Hunter and just passed my NCLEX exam so my job search begins! Does anyone know where to look for clinics, I know these are often quicker hires. I started on indeed.com but I'm wondering what other sites are good places to search for jobs for this new grad. Thanks!

congrats! well come to the job search. It is good you are open to working in areas other than hospital. My first RN job before the hospital where I am now was in a clinic with a home care component, I was hired a month after NCLEX. I found my job through craigslist. Most clinics post in the Healthcare jobs section of newyork.craigslist.org and also on Volunteer, work, intern, organize, hire and connect. Change the world - idealist.org

Thank you, I will def be looking on there then! I am very open to anything, but I have a question for you. A lot of hospitals I noticed said they want acute care experience. So when you applied to hospital you're at now, was clinic experience accepted. Which hospital are you at now, if you don't mind me asking? I am not too familiar with NYC so I am looking up all the hospitals. I will apply to clinics and nursing homes and hope that will open the door for me to a hospital eventually.

Was clinic experience accepted? Well me and alot of people in my orientation group had only clinic experience...so obviously it was accepted or else we would not have gotten job. Im at an NYC HHC in BK with a Trauma Center. If hosp have to choose between someone with no experience at all or someone with clinic experience only ...who would they take? The one with some experience! A girl hired in the ER had 4 months of outpatient endoscopy exp. The rest of us were in different types of clinics and we were hired for med/surg, L&D, postpartum, and telemetry.

I tried making my resume look really good, (taking an ACLS class so I put that on there) but this is actually my first interview. I just got my license the 14th. I've worked in a Dr's office before not sure if that helped. Yes, one woman told me I didn't have enough experience for a position but I explained to her that no one seems to want to hire new grads and she told me that if it was job for an RNI, I could have been a candidate. I have been filling out my apps like its my job, I devote a lot of time to it because I feel like the more I fill out the better chance I have. I am not going to give up, all we need is one job to take us. It just will take a lot of tries before we get there.
