New York city

I'm looking for nursing programs in new York city.

Lpn or rn what's the difference in work

I'm sure if you're looking you'll find them

The difference between the two licenses has to do with the scope of practice of each. LPNs have a more limited scope, RNs a greater scope. LPNs have taken and passed a licensing exam after a non-degree nursing program, RNs have taken and passed a licensing exam after an Associates degree or Bachelor degree program. Some places will not hire LPNs for some jobs, but there are different jobs for the different degrees. And sometimes the same jobs but with oversight of the LPN by an RN. Lots depends on the places you work. If you're in NYC then you should look at the board of nursing website for New York. You can find out what the scopes of practice of each are and what is required to get a license in your state.

There are many resources that you can use to find the answers to your questions. The first thing you should look up is the scope of practice for LPNs and RNs in your state. Because this varies from one state to the next, each nurse should be very familiar with the Nurse Practice Act of the state(s) in which he/she works. What may be the scope in my state may be different from what is allowed in New York. You will also want to research the job market for both. That can give you an idea of where the need is (or isn't) and what other qualifications are needed, such as BSN for an RN.

For finding schools, you should be able to find a list of approved programs on the NY BON website. You can also search for accredited schools via the searches available on ACEN and CCNE websites. These two organizations are the national bodies that accredit nursing programs.
