When receiving a license in another state, how long is that license valid? (a year from date received/approved or only until the end of the calendar year)

Expiration dates of licenses vary by state. I tried to find a site with all that info but could not, maybe someone else can find it? But the states I have registered in usually license you for at least 2 years before renewal is due. You also want to find out the continuing ed requirements for each state, as those also vary from none to 30 hours per 2 year period.
