New traveler. Las Vegas?

Published

I'm a brand new traveler, w/2 years experience in California. I'm with CCTC, they are offering me $21/hr w/$1000/mo housing. Is this fair? Anyone heard anything about Sunrise or Mountainview hospital in Las Vegas?

I'm just now noticing how much stuff I have to move! I'm planning to continue traveling after this assignment. How does everyone move so often? Do you put things in storage? Or just become minimalists? :chuckle

Thanks for your help!

What about summerland?

If your talking about Vegas, it's Summerlin. It's the name of a community (nice one too) and they have a hospital. From what I hear, it's one of the more expensive ones too. I'm still a NS, but from what I hear I should start out over $25 as hospital staff (RN).

You'll have lots of fun finding housing for that price. It will be out there, but not much left over, if any, for utilities, etc.

Good luck to you!

Sunrise Hospital is the largest hospital in the state of Nevada. It is an HCA facility and is home to the state's only dedicated children's hospital. Sunrise has a level II trauma center, but is a level I center in all respects but the academics (no interns). The acuity level of the hospital runs about 1.8. A nice plus for floor nurses includes a PC in each patient room for electronic charting. You can see more information about Sunrise at the following link: http://www.sunrisehospital.com/cpm/Splash2.htm

By the way, I am a NAP at Sunrise and will graduate next May.

Mountain View hospital is another HCA facility in northwest Las Vegas. This modern hospital is only a few years old and quite innovative. Although I have not worked in this facility, my husband was a patient there and received outstanding treatment! You can see more info about that facility at: http://www.mountainview-hospital.com/
