New Travel Nurse Looking For Tips

Published

Hey everyone, I have been on this page reading blogs previously but just decided to join today as I am about to embark on a new journey in my Nursing career. I have always loved to travel and have been all over the world volunteering as nurse as well as kept a steady staff RN position in surgical/pediatrics here in Wisconsin. Starting in January I am going to start traveling nursing. Right now I am thinking I am pretty set on Flex Care Medical Staffing as my agency. Does anyone have any advice regarding the agency or traveling as a nurse in general? I guess I am at the point where there is so much information thrown at me right now I am not even sure the specific questions to be asking at the moment. Would love to speak to someone with experience to give me some insight. Thanks!

Have you gotten an assignment yet? I did traveling for 1 year as a med/surg nurse; but now after 3 years of a permanent ER position, I have decided to go back to traveling. I wish I could give you some advice....my new assignment seems much more difficult than I anticipated. I believe some of this is due to the fact that I'm in the ER now but also because when I did traveling the first time all my assignments were a much smaller facilities than the one I trained in. I went from working in a tiny community hospital to traveling in a level 1 trauma facility and so the standards here a much more strict. I enjoy the challenge, but I do have anxiety about not being good enough. I wish I could give you some advice, but I hope that you find your assignment nice and enjoy the excitment. We can compair notes if you would like.
