Hi, I just moved to Dallas a month a go after completing an LPN/LVN program in Oklahoma. I applied to the Texas BON two months early as requested. Everything came back clear and perfect with my application process except my educational requirements. Now I have invested a lot of money and time "WAITING" to take the NCLEX. The TX BON said I am short 88 clinical hours, even though I have over 100 extra hours in Theory. The educational requirements in OK and TX are just different and flip flopped. So I'm kind a stuck! I can't seem to get any good answers from the BON. If I go back to OK and take the NCLEX can I then just get my license endorsed here without any additional process? I'm frustrated...Anyone have a similar experience? Plus what about all of the money I spent applying to TX BON?

Well, I really just want to say welcome to Texas! I hope you like it here, aside from your troubles with the BoN. I'm still in school, but my mom and neighbor both have had some headaches with the board over the 25 collective years of nursing they have between them. They aren't the easiest bunch to get to do anything so my best advice, from what I have heard, is to just stay on their butts until you get your questions answered.
I hope all works out well for you and again, welcome to the Lone Star State and from Houston!
Thank you so much! I ended up having to apply with the Oklahoma Board of Nursing and spend a TON of money.

I'm not positive here, but I would imagine you could return to Oklahoma and sit for the NCLEX then transfer your license to Texas. I know it sounds like a lot of excess work and money, but I think it would be the easiest route. Chalk it up to a lesson learned and do your best to be as prepared as possible next time.
