New to Texas

Hi all,

I will be moving to Fort Worth, specifically Fossil Creek area, this summer. I am not sure if I want to work agency and make my own schedule or go staff with one of the local hosp. I have two girls(3&9), and have no ideas about daycare, yet. My hubby will be working approx 15 miles away in lake worth. I guess I'm needing opinions on what to do. I'm thinking if I work agency only, then I can be off on the weekends for my kids. What is the pay like in the hospitals specifically, Texas Methodist, Baylor, and North Richland Hills. I have already talked with Maxim and Nurse Staffing and they quote me at about $35-40/hr. Please help. Any suggestions would be welcomed.:bow:

Hi! I live about 1.5 miles from Fossil creek, but i am not a hospital nurse. Do you want me to post some links for the hospitals in our area? Where will your husband be working in Lake Worth? There is a brand new day care right down the street from me and I could try to grab you some info as it would also be close to you.

I know the county hospital is hiring right now.

The pay is really dependent upon the years of experience you have, and you have not told us how long you've been a nurse.

The hospitals in Dallas-Fort Worth will start new RNs off at $23 hourly, on average. Some places pay more and other places pay less.

Thank you all for responding. CrunchRN that daycare info would be very helpful. I have been a nurse about a year, so I will do agency for now to make the extra cash to pay off a few bills. I am just not sure where all I would go working for Maxim. Just curious.

The 1st is on Western center which is the main road through the FC area

The 2nd one is the one next to my house that opened last month and is about 2 miles from you
