New here!

Hi! I figured I would join this site for some advice and support! I am 24 years old and just now over the summer semester started my pre-reqs for nursing. I have currently completed English 1, General Psyc, Intro Algebra, Developmental Pysc, Interpersonal Communication, and A&P1. Next semster I am taking only A&P 2 as we will be moving towards the end of the semester. I also work full time as a legal assistant.

My husband is active duty military and we will be moving in May as he has gotten orders. I am planning over next summer taking Micro, Chemistry (if required, some of the schools I am looking at do not require it) and another math class and I should be ready to apply and have all of my pre-reqs and co-reqs done.

We are however facing somewhat of a delima. My husband is rarely home due to his job and with his orders he is receiving he will be home for 3 years staight. We are contemplating trying to get pregnant when he gets home. For those of you that have been through nursing school with children, how hard did you find it to have a child and go to nursing school. I will more then likely not get to start school until Fall 2013, so the baby would be almost 1 year old.

I am not sure if we should go ahead and try or wait until I am done with school.

Any advice would be awesome.

Hello mcwife! Welcome to the discussion area. Congrats on starting the path to nursing :-) My advice to you is to look for available options as far as daycare or some type of assistance while you attend nursing school full time. If your husband is going to be there for 3 years, this should be perfect for you, because he can be helping you. As you may already know, nursing school is no walk in the park, but it's doable!! With good time management and support from family and friends you can succeed through the program, we are here to help you in anyway we can :-)
