Hi everyone, In the last month I've graduated with my BSN, got hired on my first RN job, and taken/passed the NCLEX. It's been a busy month and I haven't really had much time to start even thinking about beginning work. I start in a couple weeks with orientation on a fairly large Surgical-Telemetry unit (about 5-7 pts/nurse) and was wondering what gadgets, tools, and tips have been helpful for you. I still have to go out and buy scrubs for the unit and everything. What brands do you like best? After orientation, I'll be working nights as well. Any tips on going from orientation-days, to working-nights?

Not the best advice.Scrubs: I'm a Koi person myself. A bit more expensive, but nicer quality, IMO and they have talls that fit me.Gadgets: Scissors and hemostats are a must. Otherwise your favorite pens.
CrazyCatLadyRN, BSN, RN 110 Posts May 29, 2011 Thanks! Yeah, I'm definitely in need of tall scrubs. I had to wear Dickies talls for school and they were still too short. I'm 5'8 1/2" and with the sneakers I wear....about 5'10".

I love the Marissa style but they are phasing them out. I need to try their other styles to see how they fit.
CrazyCatLadyRN, BSN, RN 110 Posts May 29, 2011 I actually bought 3 pairs of Koi today! They fit really well. It was really hard to find any scrub in the color I need for my unit and the size I am. I think I bought the only 2 pairs of S-tall Koi's in the store and had to order the 3rd.
