New student here at Hondros

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

First off, since this is my first post, I would like to say hello to everyone here! :w00t:

I have been trolling this site and forum for several months ever since I decided to make the switch to nursing school. I was at the University of Cincinnati for 3 years (2 years in business and 1 year in IT) before I decided to look into their nursing school. But their waiting list was over a year long. So after looking on here I saw the list of schools with no waiting list and saw Hondros on in. I just started my classes on Monday (Jan 7th) so I've only been in it for about a week now. But so far it seems good, the only thing I can compare it to is business and IT classes at UC. But if anyone has any questions about Hondros I would be more than happy to answer them for you. Also just FYI I'm taking my classes at the West Chester and Mason locations.

Hi Guys,

I actually did notice that in the new agreement but just assumed it didnt affect us. I really hope that it is not an issue but a lot can change in the next year. The only reason i chose Hondros was because it did not have a waiting list. I guess we will have to wait and see unless someone can demand a change in the contract. Good luck to anyone who can try.:banghead:

Hi! Your right, alot can change in a year especially now that the school is accepting financial aid. There will be alot more applicants. But thanks for the confirmation Paul, I thought that was what it said. I should have asked in orientation if they could go through the contract and point out all of the changes, that way the entire class could have questioned it, but oh well, hind sight is 20/20.

Do either of you remember if the new agreement stated that it made the old agreement null and void? If not, maybe that would be something to bring up if they don't intend to hold spots for us? Like I said earlier, I didn't scrutinize the new one, but I did look over it, and I don't remember it saying anything like that.

Hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that I sent an email to David Kramer about the new enrollment agreement, and how it may affect us. I don't know if he's out of his office until after the New Year, but I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from him!

Happy New Year!*wine

Thanks for doing that! You have a Happy New Year too!

Has anyone picked up their books yet? i am trying to locate the student handbook to find out more about what to expect. What type of clothes can we wear on a daily basis? what type of shoes do we have to wear? where are we supposed to go on the 12th? is anything required for the first day of class. simple stuff like that. Maybe i fell asleep during orientation but i dont remember them saying any of that. Hope everyone has a great new year. im sure were all in for a big change in 13 days...

We can either wear business casual, or scrubs. I also heard that they're maybe considering letting us wear jeans. The only thing I heard about shoes was that we would be wearing gym shoes during clinicals, so I'm assuming we can wear them with scrubs as well. As far as the first day goes, I'm just going to bring the basics: pens, notebook, laptop, etc. Hopefully, if we need anything else, they'll send us a list or something.

Hello! I heard back from David Kramer, today. He said that students coming in from the outside have to meet different criteria than in-house students. Also, we will have a meeting early in the last term to discuss whether or not we want to move on. He said that he sees no problem with any of the LPN students moving on to the RN program as long as they are doing well in their classes. From his email, I got the impression that they will still hold a place for us, as long as our grades are where they need to be. Also, he told me that they have gotten more books in, and that we can pick them up anytime today, before 5 p.m. as long as our accounts are current. We're almost there!!!:)

Awesome,,, Im getting excited and nervous... Cya all in a week.

I just got back from picking up my books. HOLY COW!!! I would suggest some serious weight training before going!:pumpiron: They weren't kidding when they told me there would be "quite a few". I think there are 12 of them! (And they're not wimpy little ones, either!)

Hey guys, I was just reviewing my schedule and noticed a major problem. They have me registered for my nursing concepts class in fairborn ohio. This is crap. Please check your schedule and make sure your not stuck driving all the way to dayton for class. i will call tomrorrow. i hope they still have an opening. Let me know if this happened to you.

I really hope you can get it rescheduled! Some of my classes had been scheduled in Columbus, but I caught it the day it happened, and got them changed right away.
