Hi Everyone!
I'm new to allnurses and wanted to introduce myself. Thirteen years ago I was attending WVU-Parkersburg with a pre-nursing major. I completed quite a few of my pre-req classes but moved to Florida. I put everything on hold waiting for in-state tuition, became employed with a company and started moving through the ranks. I'm still with that company 11 years later. :) However, I really want to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. I worked as a CNA and a Home Health and Hospice Aid while in college previously and I loved the work.
So now, with three children, a husband and a full time job I'm starting back to school. I have the following classes to take:
Essentials of Nutrition and Diet Therapy
Ethics and Critical Thinking
Intermediate Algebra
A&P I
A&P II
Microbiology
This term I'm taking Nutrition, Ethics and Algebra Monday-Thursday evenings. That will leave the sciences which I'm going to take one each term until my pre-reqs are complete.
Anyway, I look forward to joining all of you!

Congrats on choosing nursing:yeah:
Just from my experience I would always try to take 1 science class each semester with an easy class to balance it out (exp: a&p1 + nutrition in the first semester, a&p2 + math the second semester, etc) It would make it only 3 semesters instead of 4. I did the same thing your talking about when I first went back to school and looking back I really wish I would have maximized my time by take a science class that first semester.
Then again I could just mind my own business though so sorry if I overstepped my bounds :chuckle
Good luck on making it to the top!
Thanks everyone!
Future-nurse, you are certainly not overstepping your bounds. :) I really wanted to do as you mentioned, unfortunately, I debated with myself far too long and A&P was full for the summer term when I finally decided to bite the bullet. My school also won't let you start A&P or Micro without the Alegebra credit. So I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Although, part of me thinks working full time with a family; taking the sciences will be better when I can devote 100% of study time to thoroughly learning the material.
Once I have my pre-req's complete and am accepted in a nursing program, I am going to quit my job so I am focused on the nursing program.
I look forward to getting to know everyone here!
