Hey all. I'm new to this site. I'm scheduled to start CNA class then I'm pursuing my 2 year degree through Metro Community College in Omaha. Does anyone have any info regarding Metro's program?

Thanks in advance!

I'm always so excited when I see a fellow resident of Omaha on here!! :w00t: I am a metro student as well, but want to transfer to an accelerated nursing program once my pre-reqs are completed, since I already have a BS in another area.

As far as the program at metro goes... admission is on a point system. You also have to get your LPN before you can apply to the RN program. You get points for GPA, actually working as a CNA, letters of recommendation, and the TEAS test. You can review for the TEAS test by buying a book from the bookstore or online. The review book is actually much harder than the test, so if you can do the work in the book, you will ace the test. The night and weekend program is much less competitive, b/c not as many people are interested in that. Don't listen to people who say you need a 4.0, because it just isn't true.

I work at Alegent (Immanuel Fontanelle home- we always have openings, and they hire new CNA's, and it is one of the nicer facilities in Omaha), and they have a tuition agreement program that will not only pay for you to become an RN at metro, but pay 700/mo to help with living expenses, so long as you work 8 hours per 2 week pay-period and agree to work within Alegent for 2 years as an RN.

Wow! Thank you for all of your information. That was great. I'll have to look into Alegents program and offer. I understand about the point system, my advisor explained that. I am planning on the day classes for the LPN and the RN. But, that is good to remember about the night course not being all that competitive. My husband travels frequently and I have teenage girls that I would rather not leave home alone at nighttime. I'm so excited! Yesterday I picked up the TEAS review guide from the bookstore as well. My CNA course begins in March over at Hillcrest.

Thanks again for your response and all the tibits of information. Good luck to you as well!

I am currently in Metro's CNA class. My final is coming up Saturday, and I was wondering if the anatomy section is covered on the in-class final and also on the state registry test. I know I've got all the other stuff down pat, but I am curious what to cover in my last-minute cram sessions. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
