Once I get over the let down of summer being over, I just love the fresh newness of a new school year. It's a great time to start over and do things differently, or better, than I did last year. Here are a few of my resolutions:
This school year, I will:
- Give parents courtesy calls more often, even for relatively minor issues. They seem to appreciate the communication (and it's a great CYA).
- Try to use my (bad) Spanish speaking skills more instead of using a bilingual staff member before trying to attempt to communicate myself.
- Get more involved with the school community and the teaching staff...volunteer on more committees and attend more of the programs that I am not necessarily required to attend
- Really push a wellness program that focuses on student AND staff health
- Get my screenings done before the holiday break...NO EXCUSES!
- Try to be less jaded with the frequent fliers and assume that there really is something bothering them, be it physical, emotional, or social
- Take a sick day when I am truly sick and NOT feel guilty about it.
- Spend more time on training my staff so I CAN take a sick day without guilt!
There is lots more that I want to improve on...but that's a good start, lol. What about everyone else? What are you going to do differently this year?

Purple Scrubs - stealing this one from you, it's a good one! - 1. Try to be less jaded with the frequent fliers and assume that there really is something bothering them, be it physical, emotional, or social.
2. Eat lunch AWAY from my desk as much as possible.
