New RN grad, Searching for an OKC job!

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

I'm a May '09 BSN grad from a great school in Arkansas. After graduation I moved back to the OKC metro area (near where I grew up). I got married this past July, and decided to postpone my NCLEX and job search until I could settle into my new marriage/home. Thankfully, I passed the NCLEX in early September but I have been searching for a hospital position ever since.

So many RN positions are "experience required." Does anyone have suggestions about hospitals/open positions/recommendations? I'm so lost. I'm hoping that I won't have to wait until December to find a job with the next wave of RN grads.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I know a lot of the hospitals are on hiring freezes right now, or those that are hiring are only hiring RNs with 2+ years experience.

Where all have you applied? What type of nursing are you interested in? Have you called recruiters directly?

Also a lot of the new grad programs start in June (for May grads) and January (for Dec grads). A lot of hospitals want new grads to go through a program like that because of the additional training you need. That is my thought anyways.
