New to the RN Field

Nurses General Nursing

Hey!

I work @ a hospice agency in Southern California, and I'm very interested in becoming an RN. I have to take 3 prerequisite courses which is fine but the thing that discourages me is that the Community Colleges in San Diego say there's a 3 to 5 year wait to get into the ADN program. The Community Colleges around here say that I have to be registered in the last prerequisite class before I can even get on the waiting then wait 3-5 years? That seems kinda rediculous.

I have a B.A. in Criminal Justice and aren't there accelerated schools/programs in San Diego where I could get on the fast track to obtaining my ADN degree earlier? I found Grossmont College as one, but I want to know what else there is out there. Is there a site that could help me?

Any info that would lead me in the right direction would be awesome and any advice, opinions, comments, concerns about anyone that has done this would also be great!

Thanks in advance.

J

I'd suggest starting a thread with the title: Accelerated nursing programs in San Diego? ... or something like that. You could post it in the California specific forum.

Good luck getting info!

sharp has an accelerated BSN thru oklahoma state university, all of the classes are online & the clinicals are all held at sharp. i'd do a search through these forums for that program if you're interested. i don't know that grossmont has an accelerated program, just LVN-RN and day/evening RN program, but those have waitlists. you might also look into national university. good luck! :)

Not sure if you wan to travel alittle bit north but try Cal State Long Beach, I believe they might have what you're looking forward...good luck
