CSUDH RN-BSN online
I'm currently at CSUDH, just finished my first semester & I went full time (5 classes), since I don't work right now. I like the school, the work isn't that hard, but Nursing Concept (BSN 302), requires a lot of reading but everything else that I took was ok. The bad part, is waiting on your group members to post/add to required work, but other than not bad. I'm planning on attending full time again this Spring so I can graduate this Fall 2012. And it's not hard to keep an A average, just keep up with the homework & write good essays & you'll be fine.....hope that helps!!

Relocating from Los Angeles, CA to Cincinnati, OH
Man, CA is getting to expensive for me...I'm planning a trip to Cleveland/Akron area at the end of the month to try and network before I pack up and move. But thanks for the heads up but it's looking like every where is tough to get in!!

need advice after failing nursing programm
Sorry to hear about that but it might not be over, just yet. Talk with a few other Community Colleges and see if you can challenge into their programs or petition the State to take the exam for your LVN, since you made it as far as you got, then work as an LVN for awhile and then try to find a program that has an LVN-RN Bridge program, they might take the credits you already taken and let you re-take the class you failed and finish up with your RN degree, ask your school, if you can get their approval to take the LVN exam or contact the State and see what you need to take the LVN exam. This might not be the result you want but the end result might get your RN license but talked with your school’s Nursing program and find out what your other options are first….Hang in there, you will be an RN, you just might have to take a different route but don’t give up!! Good luck and keep me posted!!

Nursing school refusing to send out NCLEX application
Sounds to me like you offend the Dean, technically I want to say “no” she/he can’t do that and reminder her that’s it’s pining ceremony and that it is not a diplomat/your degree ceremony, which will be handed out to you by the school once you completed all you GE/Associated Science Degree in Nursing courses, you can actually get that mailed to you too, if you don’t want to attend that, either…(that's what I did, just had my school mail it to me, it took 6 months for my degree to get to me but hey I got it). But in any case would it hurt to just get pin, clapp and then hurry up and slip out the back door, when it's all done and over with? Good luck!! Congrats, you made it through Nursing School!!!

need advice after failing nursing programm
First, please don't think it's the end of the world, becuase if this is your first fail, it's okay, I failed my 1st semester and got right back in at my same school to do it all over again. What is your schools policy for fails? Do you have to wait a semester? Most schools in Los Angeles County have you wait out a semester and you take a remediation course and you come back in. But you can try and tranfer to another school, but you have to be in good standing with your current program, meaning you didn't fail clinical, just lecture. Hang in there.

Any single parents going thru nursing school?
I am a single mom; too, my son is 6. I’ll be starting my 2nd semester this Fall, I get child support and I work full-time, my classes were Monday & Tuesday during the day and clinical Wednesday & Thursday night. When I first started I teamed up with 3 of my classmates and split the chapters and took notes on the parts that we selected, we either typed them (easy to send via email) or wrote them out and photocopy them, so it made reading less stressful. Some times I would record myself reading the notes and placed the notes on my ipod and listen to them every chance I got, in the car, on lunch breaks and before I went to bed. I mainly study all day on Saturdays and Sundays. And yes it can BE DONE!!

ABOUT THE TEAS TEST
I took my TEAS last year May and got an 80%, I like Math so I did really well, I would probably review fraction, ratio & portions, percentages (Ex. 80 is what % of 100), dividing fractions, improper fraction and lowest terms and decimals. The reading and English parts was really easy, my essays weren’t that long and English was on proper grammar and spelling. The science part, I had stuff about rocks sediments, a little bit of chemistry (ex, like the element symbol) I also had a few graphs and some questions about the earth. They had some A&P, but there were about the locations of some body part (anterior, posterior, lateral). Overall, it wasn't that bad...I'm sure you'll do find...keep me posted.

Trying To Get Started
If you can stay focus and studying a lot then I would do the 2/1/2 but I would recommend taking Micro by itself that one will require probably the most studying, well at least for me it was. A&P weren’t super easy but I manage to take it while taking Chemistry and passed. I think you can do, just stay focus and if you can get it done in time then do it. Good Luck!!! Also, some times colleges will work with you if your source of income has changed, I know my college did, I made too much to qualify for Financial Aid but when I showed proof of cutting back my hours at work to less than 25 hrs, I got a grant and it paid for my courses, so don’t give up on that.

RN In Schools in AZ (Phoenix)
after much research and reading, i think i might just complete a year in ca and then transfer to a college in az. as far as my pre-req's i have completed, a & p, micro, chem., math (stats & college alg), intro & life span psy, soc, adult nutrients, eng 1 & 2, all my lower ge's i actually have an as degree in english, so i think i'm ok in that area. just me and my husband are just trying to really figure out what would be best. ideally i would like to stay behind for 2 years and then transfer to bsn program, but we'll see in the mean time, i think i'll just contact a few school in az and get their opinion and go from there, thanks everyone and good luck to all.

RN In Schools in AZ (Phoenix)
Hi All, I'm currently getting ready to start and ADN Program this Fall (Sept 2), In CA and can't wait, my husband just found out we'll be stationed in AZ, by January (his reenlistment date, if he reenlists), so since I've been waiting to start I plan to complete a year in CA and then try to transfer everything to a RN Program in AZ, so I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or opinions on any schools out there? Any advice is needed and welcome, thanks.

Bad GPA - history of F's and retaking classes
so everyone has said great things to help improve your gpa and most schools (ca) that i know of allow you to write a letter to their rn program/department explaining yourself and how you're going to do better, also you can try and petition some classes so the grades won't be counting in your gpa. 10 years ago when i first started my gpa was not great, a lot of classes i had to repeat which wasn't bad, nowadays that classes i took back then i took online or during a 6-8 week course so i finished a lot quicker, a few classes i petition with the dean of the department or i filed a hardship, so my gpa wouldn't look so bad. don't give up, there's away around everything you just have to work hard at it, stay focus and ask questions. hang in there.
