Hi: does anyone know about the new PAX exam we have to take before we can go into the Nursing Program? I guess it is like the NET. Has anyone taken it yet. I was just about to sign up to take the NET and it said I now have to take this different test.

Thanks Seaspray:confused:

Wow, sorry about the enterence spelling, I think I have been in the books to long today, now I have reverted back to first grade:)

In comparsion to the NET, its actually much harder. More questions (but more time, too, about 60 min per section. The NET is basically high school level math (and when I mean high school, I mean basic alegebra, no geometry) and reading comp.

Oh my, now I am getting really discouraged. I have all my pre-reqs done and just need to pass this to start on the list. Have you taken it? Would buying a certain book help? Thanks for your help. I did purchase the NET practice book.

Yes I've taken it. Just get the NLN RN-PRE ENTRANCE book with the CD (do not buy any other book). It has the actual test format and test questions (a few i saw on my exam too). My exam had more geometry in the math part, which I wans't ready for. Still, give yourself at least 1 month prep time. Learn to be a faster reader. You can do it! Do not get discouraged! I got an 82 overall, gonna go take it again, but it definitely is not as bad as it's built up to be. You just compared it to the NET, which is like night and day

And know your basic science. Also, study the Physics formulas. Why the NLN tests us on physics boggles my mind.......

Don't ger discourged!!!! You will have to study for it , give yourself some time. The test is the hardest out there on the market to nursing programs. Make sure you understand what you're studying, don't try to learn the practice test questions because not one will be on the test - not even one!!!! Study the physics because 90% of science will be it. with that being said a lot more people are passing than not. Good luck:smokin:

Thanks to both of you, i will buy that book, Physics, I never even took Physics. I am an avid reader though, so I should be ok there perhaps, it is the Math part I am scared of. For a minute there when I found out about this new test, I almost thought forget this whole dream, then I stopped and said "no way is this 50yr old throwing in the towel!! You're encouragements helped my through another self-doubt. Thanks sooo much.

I was bad at math too, but if you study what they test you on in the book, you'll notice a pattern and just know the formulas. Just make time to study for the math and it won't be a surprise, but a remedial exercise when u see it on the exam.

Best of luck in the admissions process!
