New to RAMP

Nurses Recovery

Published

Hi my name is Michelle.. this past week has been the worst of my life. I was sent home from work for "diverting" .. which is really just me being extremely careless. I've been struggling with depression and have been saying for over a year that I don't know why I became a nurse. I've been a nurse for 6 years and have 2 small children. So, now, Bc of my carelessness (which I'm not gonna lie, looks extremely bad and involved many narcs) I agreed to do the RAMP program to keep my license intact. I'm not sure how long it will be, I haven't even done the "intake" part yet, I should be able to do that this week. So my question is, has anyone completed ramp successfully and did you have to do it for 5 years? Also, I have a trip to Disney planned in 5 months.. will I be able to go if I'm still in the program?

If they sent you home for diverting I would assume you were drug tested correct? If you were not diverting I would not by any means agree to the monitoring program...(not a fun time, but it saved my life..but I digress) but if you already agreed chances of getting out are slim to none. I guess I just don't understand what actually happened. Yeah you can go on vacations but still have to check in to be drug tested and stuff. Your upcoming trip will depend on what treatment they give you too..if you're lucky it's outpatient and you'll be done before it's time to go..if not you probably won't be able to go. You'll be out of work probably 6 months. I just recently got a job about 2 months ago after being out of work for 6 months, that seems to be about the avgerage time. If you truly were deverting be honest with yourself and accept the help.

Yes it's 5. You can get more added if you slip up during your time so just adhere to the total abstinence policy..it's a whole big process for a slip up so don't do it. Again, if you were diverting.. fully emerge yourself in your recovery, you won't regret it. I know it's hard to see right now, but it truly is a gift.
