New to Nursing

Published

hi i'm new to nursing and i am finding it a great and challenging school experience. i was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to manage time. i currently have a near full-time job between 26-35 hours a week and am of course a full time student. Right now its not that difficult right now but, i know that it will get more difficult in time. I know that i can have difficulties managing my time especially having to work to pay bills. aside from quiting my job which i cant do any advise is apprieciated thank you.

- cut out time wasters: TV, parties, etc. Working full-time and going to school full time does not leave you with a lot of extra study time.

- make a schedule and stick with it. Get a planner and map out your days.

- study when you can. Bring flashcards or powerpoints to work to review when you have a couple free minutes

Good luck balancing.

Make yourself a schedule. See what kind of time you actually have between work and school and schedule in things like sleep, meals, and studying and stick to it!

I recomment bartending or waiting tables.....you make more money than at a regular job. I was in that industry for all of my college experience and had no problem supporting myself working just a couple nights per week. Just a thought....

First and foremost, congratulations on being accepted. I myself am new to nursing school, however i already had to make adjustments in order to manage my time. I started out trying to balance full time school, full time job, and being a full time father for a 5 and 6 year old. My advice to you would be to maybe switch to part time status at your job. I know its hard because you have bills to pay, and you wont be able to have much fun, but the end result will be worth it. Ever since I switched to part time and basically make my own work schedule, I have more time to spend with my family and on my studies and a ton of stress has been lifted off my shoulders. Good luck to you.
