I recently graduated with my BSN and do not know many nurses with experience so I'm hoping to attain some advice here.
Curious to know what people think of HCA. I was offered a job at one of their hospitals in the acute setting which requires a 3-year contract for new grads. I'm under the impression that within the 3 years the GN can move around to different units. I was also offered a job at another hospital with no contract, but it's in a med surg unit. Keep in mind that my hope is to eventually become an ICU nurse.
Could someone with experience share their thoughts on this with me?
If I start in med surg will it be hard to get a job in the ICU? Or should I take my chances with HCA in their acute setting with the possibility of going into the ICU?
Thanks in advance.

It could turn out to be a very long three years. I wouldn't even want to sign a contract for three months. Med/surg is a good foundation for just about anything. And if you don't like it, you can leave without breaking a contract or burning bridges.

Avoid HCA like it's infectious.
