New Nurse Help

Hi everyone, I'd like some help or advice. I am a new grad nurse and I'm in my 6th week of orientation on a cardiac/med-surg unit and I really don't care for it at all. I feel like I'm doing ok and not having any real issues aside from what I'd imagine other new nurses experience. I've worked at this hospital for about 2 years, first as an aid, now as an RN. I knew the unit I was going to work on as an RN was poorly staffed and had a lot of demanding patients but I took the position anyway because it had a good schedule that matched my needs. My preceptor has been nothing but kind and helpful to me and the person supervising my orientation has been fantastic. I feel like all through nursing school everyone said get your med-surg experience over and over again, but even before I took the position I looked at other outpatient jobs as I feel like those would better suit what I want. I'm about halfway through orientation and I already know I don't like the job and want to leave... Have any of you found yourselves in similar situations and what'd you do to handle it?

Lessee... a new grad nurse who feels like they're doing okay, working in an environment they know, with a good schedule that matches their needs, a preceptor who's been nothing but kind and the person supervising their orientation has been fantastic.

The only downfalls are poor staffing, demanding patients, and that they don't like the job.

No. I don't know of many nurses, especially new grad nurses, that ever have it that good.

But, if they did have it that good, they'd handle it by counting their lucky stars, gaining experience, and maybe then looking elsewhere for a position they liked.
