Hi! Ill be graduating this May and I had my first interview for med/surg RN position at my favorite hospital and Im wondering if it went well. I interviewed with the Nurse manager for 30 mins and then she had me meet with the head nurse who would potentially be my preceptor. I was introduced to multiple NPs that work on the floor and given a tour. Later, I was part of an incoming patient conversation with my interviewer, head nurse and an NP. I was there for an hour, total. Is this usual for any 1st interview or is there a good chance Ill get the job? I was also referred to my interviewer by my current clinical director who is a supervisor at the hospital, too. I am concerned because there was just a goodbye, thank you for coming. I was not given any information on the next steps in the interview process. I am also not able to work night shifts due to a health risk (I have narcolepsy) but have no problem working 12 hour day shifts plus over time. All they know now is I can work days 7am-7pm only. What do you think?

Maybe off topic, but how is narcolepsy only limited to nights and not days?

I think that you should follow up with a thank you email, look up some examples online if you haven’t done that before. Make it nice but short and sweet. If they respond (and they might not), they may tell you about next steps. Just be patient, it sounds like a great interview since they introduced you around. Plus you had a strong referral. I am optimistic for you, although there of course is no telling because these procedures may be normal for all interviews there.
As for the narcolepsy, I am sorry to ask but it is interesting. You are okay during the day but not night, is this because you have to maintain a strict circadian rhythm and sleep schedule to manage this? Truly interested.
