New NP practice questions...

Hi all,

I'm a new grad ANP. I have accepted a position in a large chiropractic office with 5 DC's. I will be creating my role with the DC. I will be doing some primary care (very limited), but mostly pain management (injections/meds/TENS) and nerve conduction studies. The DC that is employing me is paying me VERY well given that my entire nursing career has been in Ortho and Neuro. I am starting at $45/hr, 2 wks vac/ 1st yr, all licensing & certification fees paid, malpractice paid, professional journals and association memberships paid, fully paid health and dental for my entire family, paid training (3-4 wks/yr) plus bonuses.

My question is this: How do I find protocols for a newly established practice. I hate to keep bothering him since he isn't familiar with the medical side of things. I will be the only medical person in the practice and I want to have my t's crossed and i's dotted so-to-speak.

Hmm - are you in a state that requires a collaborative agreement?

We have to have a supervising physician that is available via phone, text, or email to consult with. They do not have to be physically present on-site.

What kind of MD are you getting to do this?

Doubt a DC can be a collaborating physician but just wondered - in your state can they?

Thank u for letting us know the INS and outs of the np job, i've been deliberating about np school. As a bedside rn I'm making 35 hourly but wasn't sure np would benefit me.
