Hi kelleyk! I also was just hired into a level IV NICU with two years of newborn nursery experience. The educator at my new hospital recommended the Merenstein and Gardner's format, she felt the format made it easier to understand. The nurses I've met at my new hospital encouraged me not to be intimidated by the sick babies and the jump in acuity. If you've got good support from your unit, you will probably be fine (though the ones I asked did say it took a couple of years to really feel comfortable in NICU, so be prepared it may take a while!).
Good luck in your new job!

I was just hired to a level IV NICU. I have heard the orentation is pretty good with this hospital. However, I'm still scared to death. I have been an LPN for 5 years in a school district. Transitioning into the RN role as well as NICU is a huge deal. Anything I should research? I want to get ahead of the game. Thank you.
